James Bond Filmography

It seemed like these pages should have some random trivia. And what better way to fill it then with subjective ratings of a long running series. James Bond is a classic action character tied to plots of adventure and mystery and flung into beautiful settings. Plus, all the movie incarnations reflect the cultural norms of the time they were made, which makes aspects of the films comparable to the viewer's tastes and sensibilities.

So, here's my non-exhaustive, purely subjective, and very rough ranking of the Bond movies. The table is sortable if you click on the header category. Each of the categories from "Overall" to the right are my quick takes based on ranking, though I admit having trouble remembering many of the later Roger Moore movies. "Overall" is my general ranking from most to least favorite. "Bond" reflects how well the lead is characterized (and how much I like it). "Villains" shows how memorable and iconic a movie's bad guys are. "Women" ranks the depth, how interesting, and how memorable the female foils are. "Plot" attempts to convey the complexity and believability of the story. "Music" mostly ranks the title song, but also includes the sound throughout. "Settings" includes both the filming locations and cinematography in general. I'm sure you'll disagree with it - I often disagree with my own opinons at different times too - but it's a start.
