Meteorology Academic Genealogy
Sometimes it's nice to take a break from science. So as a big distraction from other work we should be doing, we decided to compile a family tree of students/mentors in tropical meteorology using the highest academic degree earned. Our plans to expand to the entire meteorology community and other information can be found in our BAMS article. The image above shows a distribution of people in our family tree as of Spring 2013, with colors indicating the university and the upper parts of the graph going back further in time. The latest version of the tree (in PDF form) is available here. The number of people by the decade of their graduation is shown below. There's still a lot of missing information, especially compared to some other genealogies.
